I've put together a list of wholesale used car auctions in Texas – covering Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and more. I love these auctions! They're a really fun way to buy used cars and trucks. Just keep in mind that there are risks and you should always use caution at an auto auction.

Here's what I think everyone should know about Texas auctions:

They've got a huge variety of cars. You'll find everything from trade-ins and lease returns to rental cars, charity donations, and even repossessed and drug-seized vehicles.
You can bid online or show up in person, whichever you prefer. Personally, I like to be there for the live action.
Before you bid, make sure you inspect the cars carefully. They're usually sold "as-is," so you need to know what you're getting into. I suggest you bring a mechanic with you, if needed.
Many auctions have financing options, or you can bring your own lender. Just remember to factor in those auction fees and taxes. I see to many first-timers make this mistake.

If you're new to used car auctions, I recommend visiting one just to watch how it works. The staff are usually happy to answer any questions you have. Once you've got a feel for things, you'll be ready to jump in and start bidding.
