My Tips & Advice on Washington Used Car Auctions Open to the Public & Dealer Auto Auctions
Washington State has a handful of public car auctions worth checking out, some near Seattle and Tacoma. They've got the usual mix: wholesale deals, tow lot finds, and even government surplus vehicles.
Depending on the auction, you can bid online or in person. The great thing about Washington is that you don't need a special license to get in on the action at a public car auction. Just register and you're good to go.
Now, most of the cars you'll find at these auctions have clean titles, but it's always a good idea to listen carefully to the auctioneer – they'll let you know if there's anything funky with the paperwork. You'll find some great deals on used cars, everything from bank repossessions to lease returns, and even cars from private sellers.
They sometimes have cars that were towed or even seized by the police. Right now, the number of auctions in Washington is a bit limited, especially when it comes to police seizures and tow impounds. But I'm keeping my ear to the ground and hoping to add more to the directory soon.
