While Georgia-Carolina Auto Auction has served public buyers in the past, they are currently open to dealers only. You will need a dealer's license in order to bid on auction cars for sale.

• Fleet Liquidations: Big companies with lots of vehicles often sell off some of their older ones. This gives them a chance to update their fleet, and it gives me a chance to buy cars that were usually well-maintained.
• Manufacturer Overstock: Believe it or not, car makers sometimes build more cars than they can sell. When that happens, those extra cars – sometimes even brand-new ones – go to auction.
• Salvage Auctions: These are cars that have been in accidents. They might need some work, but if you're looking for parts or a project car, a salvage auction can be a good place to look.
• Government Surplus: Government agencies sell their old vehicles too. You can find anything from basic cars to more specialized stuff at these auctions.
• Estate Sales: Sometimes when someone passes away or needs to sell things quickly, their car ends up at auction. I've found that these cars often have good maintenance records.
• Dealership Overstock: Just like manufacturers, dealerships can end up with too many of a certain model. To clear out space, they'll send the extras to auction.
